American Society of Safety Engineers
Founded in 1911 as the United Association of Casualty Inspectors and merged with the National Safety Council in 1924, becoming its Engineering Section and again became independent in 1947 as the American Society of Safety Engineers and incorporated in Illinois in 1962. ASSE members manage, supervise and consult on safety, health, and environmental issues in industry, insurance, government and education. Membership is open to individuals whose employment, education, and experience are safety- related. Membership: $20/year.
